MCLA Architectural Lighting Design Moves to New Offices

MCLA has moved its office to the historic Flour Mill Building at 1000 Potomac Street, NW. The relocation, just down Wisconsin Avenue from the firm’s former office to the Georgetown waterfront of Washington, D.C., gave the firm an opportunity to customize its space, and provided more room for its expanding staff. “This move allows us more flexibility in the design of our offices,” said Maureen Moran, IALD, IESNA and Principal at MCLA. “Now, if we need to, we can readily reconfigure to optimize teamwork; it’s space that suits our collaborative approach to design.”

MCLA’s streamlined lighting solution for the law firm Foley & Lardner was featured in the March issue of LD+A Magazine. MCLA collaborated with Group Goetz Architects on the Georgetown offices of this national law practice.

W Fort Lauderdale Wins 2011 Interior Award & Featured in Contract Magazine

The W Fort Lauderdale took home the 2011 Interior Award in the Hotel category and was featured in the January issue of Contract Magazine. MCLA created the award-winning lighting design; Clodagh was the interior designer.

For the project MCLA was teamed with London-based Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners to illuminate three generations of interconnected office building in Washington DC. MCLA’s solutions celebrate the bold architectural vocabulary while meeting functional requirements.

Wall Street Journal named new Shaw Library in Washington, DC, one of the Best Buildings in 2010. MCLA worked with architects Davis Brody Bond Aedas on the lighting design for the Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Neighborhood Library.

Maureen Moran Shares Her Insights on Daylighting
